Editor's Verdict:

At the Visioneers club the emphasis is on wholesome family entertainment, hence the name. And indeed the website is packed to the rafters with fun ways to browse and choose DVDs, and most importantly, sign up, without looking too cluttered or busy. The selection itself is rather limited and lacks some key titles which any self-respecting mainstream DVD rental outlet should never be without. But this is no oversight, it reflects the website's mission of offering only wholesome family-friendly entertainment without what their moral arbiters deem to be excessive violence or rudeness in any form (isn't this what the certification system is for?).

The service itself works much like many of the other DVD rental sites listed in this category. You create a list of DVDs you want and however many DVDs your package allows you to have at once are sent to you by post in an order dictated by their ranking in your list and the availability of the discs. When you're done watching them, you just pop them in the pre-paid return envelope. When they receive your returned DVDs they'll either mail you the next batch of DVDs from your list or wait until the start of the next month if you've already had your full allowance for the current month.

There is a wide - even bewildering - array of packages to choose from to suit your appetites. What Visioneers does offer is perhaps the broadest and most accessible selection of DVDs in the UK geared towards people of faith (specifically the Christian faith), and should at least be lauded for embarking on a commercial venture out of a sense of moral conviction. This is borne out by the fact that the value for money it offers is extremely good compared to most of the leading online rental services; the profit motive is clearly secondary to the prophet motive: these people are just happy to be doing good works. In fact, if you like your entertainment Biblical, in a strictly non-biblical sense, Visioneers may have everything you need.
